Teaching Residents At Columbia University

Dr. Tichler is teaching a non-surgical technique for complicated open bite cases to residents at Columbia University.  He holds an appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the division of orthodontics at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.  Currently at Columbia, there are 21 dentists being trained to become orthodontists and Dr. Tichler is excited to have the opportunity to instruct his students in the use of the special wires utilized in this treatment.  Both Dr. Tichler and Dr. Abraham have expertise in this approach.

There are two religions in Japan, Shintoism and Buddism.  This is a Shinto temple.
Dr. Tichler has just returned from his trip to Japan where he met with orthodontists from 15 different countries including Russia, China, Dubai, Austria, Germany, Italy, Philippines, South Korea, Columbia, Brazil, Chile, Canada and, of course, Japan and the United States.

Each evening, after spending the day sharing knowledge, research and new advances in orthodontic treatment, the orthodontists all shared a meal together.  Dr. Tichler is pictured here with Dr. Sadao Sato, president of the international orthodontic association, and fellow orthodontists from Russia, Philippines and the U.S.

Dr. Tichler spoke during the three day conference about special treatment techniques he and Dr. Abraham use at our office.

There was also time for some sight seeing. Below are a few of the hundreds of pictures he took during the trip.

Dr. Tichler and his wife, Carol, were interviewed by some Japanese students while they were visiting a temple. The students were challenged by their teacher to ask their questions in English.

One of the English phrases the students used often was:  "take care!"

Fish Tales

Living on the Great South Bay, many of our patients love to fish so we asked them to post their best fish photos on our Facebook.  We got some great pictures and all of the kids got 5 "Bracket Bucks" for their efforts and the chance to win a gift card!  Visit our Facebook and our website wiortho.com to view more photos like these and learn more about our office!

Dr. Tichler and Sister Rosemary team up

Dr. Tichler and Sister Rosemary, Chaplain in Good Samaritan Hospital, found they had something in common when Sister Rosemary became his orthodontic patient. It was music! An accomplished pianist, Sister Rosemary invited Dr. Tichler to play with her in the lobby at Good Samaritan Hospital during the holidays. They played Christmas carols in December, Irish lullabies on St. Patrick's Day and they will team up again to play patriotic songs on June 30th to celebrate the 4th of July!
